L’Estany
Included in the PEIN (Pla d’Espais d’Interès Natural de Catalunya- Natural Interest Landscape Plan of Catalonia). It is the only lake in the county of El Pallars Sobirà (Pirineus)with a karst, non-glacial, origin. Its waters come from an internal sprout, and it is between 20 and 40 meters deep.
In the pond it can be practiced
fishing and swimming.
Flora and Fauna
This lake area is one of the most important reserves for water birds around the Pyrenees, and lodges a great variety of migratory birds, such as the mallard, the osprey or the snipe. It has, in addition, a wide range of flora and fauna, some of them scarcely found in other areas of the Pyrenean territories.
